MHSSEF organises free eye screening camp


Reasi, 22 May (HS): A free eye screening and spectacles distribution camp organised for the government school students of Reasi, Katra, Kakryal, Panthal, and adjoining areas was held here on Wednesday.

The camp was organised by Maharaja Hari Singh Social & Education Foundation (MHSSEF) Trust, in collaboration with Mehar Chand Mahajan Trust and National FICCI FLO.

The inaugural function was graced by Chief Guest Alok Kumar Maurya, Additional CEO SMVD Shrine Board Katra, Guest of Honour Mushtaq Ahmed, CEO Reasi, Dr. Ritu Singh, Founder/Trustee MHSSEF; Vivek Mahajan, Trustee Mehar Chand Mahajan Charitable Trust and Director of AVCOM Info Tech Pvt. Ltd., and Anushree Mahajan, Trustee Mehar Chand Mahajan Charitable Trust.

The ceremony began with the chanting of shlokas and the traditional lighting of the lamp, creating a pious atmosphere. With the divine backdrop of Trikuta Hills and Mata Vaishno Devi’s presence, all the dignitaries were felicitated with potted plants. The Chief Guest, Alok Kumar Maurya appreciated the efforts taken by both trusts.

Vivek Mahajan and Anushree Mahajan, Trustees of Mehar Chand Mahajan Charitable Trust, also emphasized the importance of this camp.

Joyshree Das Verma, National President FICCI FLO, addressed the gathering and congratulated Dr. Ritu Singh, Anushree Mahajan, and the GB members of National FICCI FLO for hosting such a noble cause camp that will impact 2,000 children.

Dr. Ritu Singh, Founder and Trustee MHSSEF, expressed strong support for eye screening camps for the underprivileged.

She extended heartfelt thanks to Alok Kumar Maurya for gracing the event and to all the dignitaries present and appreciated the cooperation of Ashok Kumar, Director of School Education, Jammu, for supporting the noble cause by sending government school students to the camp.

During the camp, approximately 2,200 students will be covered. Through the collaborative efforts of both trusts, experts from Vision Spring are provided for eye screening and spectacles distribution, which is extremely beneficial for the students. Vision Spring provides affordable eyeglasses, vision screening, and training, enabling non-profits, social entrepreneurs, government agencies, and corporate clients to bring the wonder of clear vision to low-income communities.

On the first day, the camp witnessed 250 government school students from Govt Higher Secondary School Panthal, accompanied by their teachers.

The National FICCI FLO President Joyshree Das and other members joined the event virtually.

Advisors of Maharaja Hari Singh Foundation, Seema Murthy Gupta, Swati Dedeechi, and Ankita Bansal, attended the event, along with FICCI FLO JKL members Payal Saraf, Tania Kukreja, Parakh Jain, Ridhima Jain, Shveta Aggarwal, Ruhi Aggarwal, Sakshi Aggarwal, Monika Bhatia, Sanah Malhotra, Dr. Sandeep, and Sonam Reen. The camp at Delhi Public School, Katra will continue until May 27.
