Kolkata, May 15 (HS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday targeted the Election Commission is a puppet of the Modi Government and said that if BJP retains power at the Center after the Lok Sabha elections, my existence will cease to exist.

Addressing an election rally in Hooghly in support of Trinamool Congress candidate and actress-turned-politician Rachna Banerjee, the Chief Minister said, “If the BJP returns to power, I will cease to exist. You will cease to exist. Common people will cease to exist. Scheduled castes and tribes will cease to exist. Farmers and laborers will cease to exist. Therefore, it is important for us to defeat BJP on every seat.

Calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a publicity-oriented PM, the Chief Minister said that he knows nothing except self-promotion. He is violating the Model Code of Conduct by breaking his promise and the Election Commission is sitting like a puppet. The commission is working at the behest of the ruling party.

She also attacked the Election Commission regarding elections being held in several phases in the state. Mamata said that the officers are sitting in air-conditioned rooms. How will they realise the sufferings of the common people due to long hours of voting amid this scorching heat.

She also reiterated that every vote against the BJP is important to stop the implementation of NRC (National Register of Citizens), CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) and UCC (Uniform Civil Code) in the country.

She said, It is my promise that if BJP is voted out of power, these three draconian laws will not be implemented in the country.
