Handlova, 15 May (HS): Slovakia Prime Minister Riberto Fico was shot after the cabinet meeting on Wednesday. He was rushed to a hospital and is suffering life-threatening injuries.

The assassination attempt has been condemned by the European Union. Fico is being taken to Banska Bystrica by helicopter. Fico was shot multiple times, a post on his official Facebook page says.

Fico received bullet injuries in the abdomen and head. The eyewitness held the shooter minutes after the attack.
