BJP MP V Srinivas Prasad passes away in Bengaluru


Bengaluru, April 29 (HS): Former union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Chamarajanagar V Srinivas Prasad died at a private hospital here on Sunday night. Srinivas Prasad was admitted in ICU for the last four days. He breathed his last at the age of 76. Veteran BJP leader V Srinivas won the elections from Chamarajanagar Lok Sabha seat seven times. He also represented Nanjangud assembly seat twice. The cause of his death has been stated to be multi-organ failure. He had recently announced his retirement from politics.

According to family members, the mortal remains of V Srinivas Prasad will be brought to his Jayalakshmipuram residence in Mysuru today for the last darshan. He was admitted to Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru on 22 April. V Srinivas Prasad was born on July 6, 1947 in Ashokapuram, Mysore. He entered electoral politics by winning the Krishnaraj assembly constituency by-election on March 17, 1974 as an independent. He remained a volunteer of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh till 1972. After this he remained active in Jan Sangh and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. After this he jumped into politics.
