Missing youth''s body recovered from Teesta Canal


Siliguri, 28 April (HS): The dead body of a young man missing for three days was recovered from the Teesta Canal on Sunday. The body was found from the Teesta Canal in Jalas Nizam Tara Zone of Phansidewa Block under Siliguri subdivision. The deceased has been identified as Mahesh Chowdhury, a resident of Bankim Nagar area of Siliguri. The deceased had been running a hardware shop in the Fulbari area.

According to the family members of the deceased, Mahesh had left the shop to eat food at noon on April 25. After that, he went missing. A missing complaint was lodged at NJP police station. On Sunday, local residents saw the dead body of a person floating in the Teesta Canal of Jalas Nizam Tara Zone of Phansidewa Block.

The police of Phansidewa police station was then informed. On information, the police reached the spot and recovered the body from the canal. After that, the police contacted the family of Mahesh Chaudhary. The family came and identified the body as Mahesh Chaudhary. Then, the police sent the dead body to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem. The police of Phansidewa police station have initiated an investigation into the matter.
