Guwahati, 27 April (HS). A police constable going on election duty died after being hit by a truck. The accident took place at Amingaon in North Guwahati on Saturday morning, when the constable was going for duty on his Bullet motorcycle. Suddenly a truck coming at high speed from Baihata side hit his motorcycle hard. The head of the deceased came under the wheel of the truck, due to which his skull got shattered. He died on the spot.

The deceased has been identified as constable Gopal Chandra Chaudhary of Assam Police. Police recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem. Meanwhile, police in Jalukbari have seized the truck that caused the accident.
