Guwahati, 26 April (HS). Voting trends for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in the North-Eastern states show that a large number of people have gathered at the polling booths since morning and voted. Voting began at 07 am in five Lok Sabha constituencies of Assam, Outer Manipur of Manipur and Tripura East of Tripura. Till 5 pm, 70.66 percent voting was reported in Assam, 76.06 percent voting in Manipur and 77.53 percent voting in Tripura. However, the figures are likely to increase further.

According to the information so far, voting went on peacefully. A large number of security forces have been deployed at the polling stations.

It may be noted that in the first phase on April 19, voting was held for two Lok Sabha and 60 Assembly seats of Arunachal Pradesh, two of Meghalaya, five of Assam, one of Nagaland, one of Mizoram, one of Tripura and one Lok Sabha seat of Manipur.
