Guwahati, 23 April (HS): Kamrup Metropolitan District Election Officer called a meeting on Tuesday to conduct the Guwahati Lok Sabha constituency elections on May 7 in a transparent, fair, peaceful and orderly manner.

This was an important review meeting held at the Kamrup Metropolitan District Commissioner's Office Meeting Hall. The meeting was attended by Kamrup Metropolitan District Commissioner and District Returning Officer Sumit Sattavan, General Supervisor Keshav Singhania, Police Supervisor K Raghuram Reddy and Expenditure Supervisor T James Singhan. The General Observer urged all parties to act as per the election code of conduct and immediately inform the concerned authorities in case of any complaint or objection.

Similarly, the police observer said that the election work will be conducted as per all the rules and regulations laid down by the Election Commission. In the meeting, the Expenditure Observer told that for elections it is necessary to have a separate bank account in the name of each candidate and their accounts will be checked thrice from the time of filing of nomination papers till the day of voting. He said that the expenditure on election campaign, transportation etc. of each party and rival candidates is being regularly monitored.
