Truck-bus collision in Kannauj; four killed, 34 injured


Kannauj, 23 April (HS): On Tuesday morning, a sleeper bus broke the divider and collided with a truck coming from the opposite side on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh. In this accident, four passengers died on the spot and 34 people were injured.

Police arrived on information and took the injured to the hospital. Expressing grief over the accident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the officials to provide all possible help to the injured. As soon as the information about the road accident on Lucknow Agra Expressway was received, District Magistrate Shubhrant Kumar Shukla and Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Anand, Additional Superintendent of Police Dr. Sansar Singh, Area Officer Dr. Priyanka Vajpayee and police of Thathiya police station reached the spot. With the help of UPEDA personnel, the police admitted the injured to the medical college.

The Superintendent of Police said that a bus from Gorakhpur was going to Delhi with about 40 passengers. Near Piprauli village on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Kannauj, the bus broke the divider and rammed into a truck arriving from the other side.

Prima facie the reason behind the accident is said to be sleepiness of the driver. The police, with the help of UPEDA personnel, took out all the injured and sent them to the hospital for treatment. Four people died in this accident, who have not been identified yet. The injured are being treated at Tirva Medical College. The body has been kept in the post mort house. The traffic system is normal. Advance legal action is being taken.
