Kamrup (Assam), 23 April (HS): The police have arrested the Imam of the mosque who abducted the teenage girl. The misdeeds of Imam Minhaj Ahmed of the mosque in Dhuhibala of Kanya police station area of Hajo have put the people of the area to shame.

Police said on Tuesday that a complaint was received regarding abduction of a teenage girl by Imam Minhaj of Chowmukha Mosque. After the incident, the girl's family contacted the police. Based on the family's FIR, Kanya police arrested Iman Minhaj from the Assam-Bengal border and rescued the girl. Police suspect that Imam Minhaj may be involved in a gang of women traffickers. The police is investigating the matter.

After the news came, sensation spread in the entire area. A local person said that in Muslim society, Imams are called religious Teacher. Children are imparted knowledge of religion while offering five-time prayers in the mosque. But, by taking up such a sacred profession, Imam Minhaj has committed a huge betrayal of the Muslim society.
