Iran gearing up nuclear arms following Israel's attack

Tehran, 19 Apr (HS): Tension between Israel and Iran is increasing. Reports of explosions were heard near a major airbase in Isfahan province of Iran. According to Fars News Agency reports regional tensions rose following Iran’s retaliatory attack on Israel. Iran’s attack was in response to Israel’s attack on its consulate in Syria.

US broadcaster ABC News reported Israel had launched a missile attack on the Iranian air base. However, there is no report from Israel and Iran. The cause of the explosion is not confirmed. Isfahan has a major uranium plant. Routes of several flights over Iran have been changed.

The rising tension between Israel and Iran was also discussed in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). Israel demanded Iran’s military to be declared as a terrorist. Iran had warned USA not to interfere between the two countries. UN Secretary-General has appealed to them to have patience and maintain peace.

The New York Times quoted Israeli security officials saying Israeli Defence Forces attacked on Friday early morning. It was in response to Iran’s attack five days ago. There is no official confirmation from Israel.

Reports of explosions from Iraq and Syria are also coming. Iran’s 13 people including two Islamic Revolution Guard Corps generals were killed in the Israeli attack. Iran also claimed that it brought down three drones.

Iran may change its nuclear programme policy. Tehran has identified all Israeli nuclear centres and has threatened Israel with equally strong retaliatory attack.
