Raiganj, April 18 (HS): Actor Mithun Chakraborty was once a Rajya Sabha MP of the Trinamool Congress, today he is in the BJP. He is campaigning for the BJP in West Bengal. Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee called Mithun a traitor from a public meeting held in Raiganj on Thursday. Mamata claimed that Mithun joined BJP to save his son.

The Trinamool supremo said, ''''I made Mithun Chakraborty a Rajya Sabha MP. But I did not know that he is another big traitor of Bengal. He went to the RSS office with his head bowed to save his son. Out of fear, he went to the RSS office in Mumbai and said that I am a servant.''''

Mamata said in strict language, ''Those who are dirty, who do not have ideals, I do not consider them humans. I consider those who can fight as humans.'' Notably, Mithun Chakraborty had joined the BJP before the Assembly elections 2021.

The BJP claimed that it is not right to say such cheap things about Mithun Chakraborty, he has no political ambitions. BJP spokesperson Shamik Bhattacharya said, ''No one can ever question Mithun''s financial integrity. He has been the highest taxpayer for a long time. He is a National Award winning actor who has a place in the hearts of people across India.
