Maharajganj, 22 February (HS): A Nepalese national was caught in a combined operation by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and police on the Indo-Nepal border, and contraband worth ₹5 crore was confiscated, according to a senior official.

Somendra Meena, Superintendent of Police (SP) in Mahrajganj, named the culprit as Basant Khatri (24) of Nepal's Dang district. He said Khatri was on his way to Nepal from India when he was apprehended in Sonauli with 9.898 kg of charas worth ₹5 crore on the international market.

The offender has been charged under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, police said.
