Dhaka, 10 Feb (HS):- The price of onion in the retail market in Bangladesh has sky-rocketed to 120 Taka per kilogramme. The onion prices rose by 30 percent in the last week. Bangladesh's currency of 1 Taka equals India’s 76 paise.
According to the Dhaka Tribune report, prices of several essential commodities came down during the week, except that of onion. The price of onion rose to 120 Taka from 90 Taka during the last week. A wholesale dealer in Onion and Potatoes M D Salim said that the prices are not in the wholesalers’ control. The prices are not likely to come down before the month of Ramzan.
