Two accused arrested for grenade attack on police station in Amritsar


Chandigarh, 28 December (HS): Punjab Police has arrested two accused of grenade attack on police station in Amritsar district along with weapons and grenades. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said on Saturday that two accused who threw hand grenade at Police Station Islamabad have been arrested. This narco-terror module was being run by operators sitting abroad.

DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the accused had carried out grenade attack on Islamabad police station on 17 December. He said that police has arrested two accused Gurjeet Singh (resident Dande, Amritsar Rural) and Baljeet Singh (resident Chappa, Tarn Taran) in this case. Both these accused were not only involved in this attack but were also promoting terrorist activities in the country through smuggling of drugs and weapons. During investigation, police recovered 1.4 kg heroin, one hand grenade and two pistols from these accused. This recovery makes it clear that efforts are being made to spread drug addiction and violence in India in an organized manner.

Investigation also revealed that the arrested accused were working on the instructions of operators sitting abroad. Babbar Khalsa International terrorists Happy Pasiyan, Saathi Jeevan Fauji and Gopi Navanshaharia have already taken responsibility for this attack.

According to the police, investigation has been intensified to catch other people associated with this module. So far, including these two accused, police has arrested 16 accused of Happy Pasiyan. While three accused have been killed in an encounter in UP in the past days. The killed accused had escaped after blasting in Gurdaspur.
