Chirang (Assam), 28 December (HS): On Saturday, STF received information that a person from Baikhungaon village hunted wildlife and made it viral on social media. After this, OC of Kajalgaon police station conducted an operation with Kajalgaon police team and arrested three persons. The arrested accused have been identified as Dipankar Basumatari, Swamadvam Basumatari and Bilipang Basumatari.

After interrogation, an air gun (CAL 4.0177, serial number BA05) and an air gun bullet were recovered from the accused. Dipankar Basumatari admitted that he had killed the civet in Bilipang Basumatari's house.

The arrested accused and the seized weapon will be handed over to the Forest Department, Kajalgaon for further legal action.
