Howrah, 28 December (H.S.): The dead body of a police officer's wife was found hanging in a flat of a multi-storey building situated at Vyaitaitala area of Shivpur in Howrah on Friday night, while the police officer's two minor sons were found unconscious on the bed in the adjacent room. According to police sources, the name of the deceased was Ruby Jha (27). Her 11-year-old elder son Chirag also died while her four-year-old child is undergoing treatment in the hospital.
According to police and local sources, the deceased's husband Pradeep Jha is a police officer. He is employed in Howrah City Police. When he reached home on Friday evening, he found the door of the house locked from inside. When no one opened the door even after repeated calls, other residents of the building gathered. Sensing something untoward, the police was informed.
When the police broke the door, Ruby was found hanging from the ceiling fan in a room and the two boys were lying unconscious on the bed in the adjacent room. They were immediately taken to the hospital. According to the initial investigation, the woman tried to kill her two children and then committed suicide. However, the police is investigating the reasons behind this incident. The police have registered a case of unnatural death and started an investigation into the matter.
A senior officer of Howrah City Police said that Ruby's elder son has died. The younger boy is undergoing treatment.
