28 December (H.S.): Police on Saturday arrested three female smugglers who were
involved in illegal drug trade from the window of their house. Illegal smack
worth Rs 75 lakh has been recovered from them. Additional Superintendent of
Police South, Dr. Akhilesh Narayan Singh said that on Saturday, the
Ramsanehighat police station team has arrested a woman who was smuggling
narcotics. 750 grams of illegal smack and Rs 5,170 have been recovered from the
arrested women, Meena, Roshni and Kumari Shivani, residents of Kotwa Road.
Ramsanehighat police station has registered a case against the three accused
women under the NDPS Act.
During investigation, it has come to light that their
family is involved in drug trafficking. Meena's husband Jai Prakash Pathak
alias Kinni and son Shivam Pathak alias Golu have been sentenced by the court
to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh each for drug
trafficking. The second son, Satyam Pathak, is detained in Barabanki district
jail on charges of drug trafficking. The arrested Diwakar used to buy illegal
smack and sell it to customers secretly from the window of her house.
