Varanasi,

26 December (H.S.): A semi-naked body of an eight-year-old girl packed in a

gunny bag was discovered outside a primary school in Varanasi. The culprit,

Irshad, the victim's neighbour, was apprehended after a brief gunfight with

police. He's been charged with rape and murder. The event occurred in

Varanasi's Sujabad region. The minor's body was discovered along the boundary

wall of Bahadurpur Primary School on Tuesday. There were blood stains and

bruises all over the body. The culprit was detained based on CCTV video. Irshad

was spotted bringing the girl to his residence and returning with the body in a

sack after a while. Police stated Irshad murdered the girl after she refused to

be raped.

According

to the findings of a nearby CCTV footage, Irshad, a resident of the

neighbourhood, attempted to rape the girl by abducting her. After failing to do

so, he killed her by striking her skull with a stone, putting the body in a

gunny bag, and discarding it in front of the school, said Gaurav Banswal,

DCP of Varanasi Kashi Zone. The youngster, the daughter of a crippled auto

driver, had left her home at 6.30 pm on Tuesday to buy a mosquito repellent

from a local shop. When she didn't return home, her family started looking for

her. When the search yielded no results, a complaint was filed at the nearest

police station.

After

examining the neighboring CCTV cameras, authorities identified Irshad as the

culprit. During an arrest operation, Irshad opened fire on the cops. In

response, the police opened fire, shooting Irshad in the leg. He is receiving

medical treatment in a hospital.
