Mohali, 22 December (H.S.): On Sunday, the National Disaster Management Force (NDRF) and Indian Army launched a joint rescue operation here after a four-storey building collapsed on Saturday evening.
According to NDRF officials, five people were initially believed to be trapped under the debris. One woman, Drishti Verma, was rescued but succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. The operation has been ongoing with the help of required equipment and machinery, in addition to those brought by NDRF and Army.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has promised action against the culprits behind the collapse of the under-construction building.
Meanwhile, Indian Army columns, along with NDRF and state rescue teams, have been working tirelessly to address the crisis.
Medical teams and ambulances have also been deployed at the site. As the search continues, all major hospitals in Mohali have been put on alert to handle any emergency cases.
