Jaunpur,
21 December (H.S.): A vicious cow smuggler has been injured and subsequently arrested
in an encounter with the joint police team of Kerakat and Chandwak police
stations. A motorcycle, pistol, shell and live cartridges have been recovered
from his possession. Area Officer Ajit Kumar Rajak said that checking was being
conducted at the Thanagaddi intersection late on Saturday night.
Meanwhile, a
young man riding a bike was coming from Parauganj. An attempt was made to stop
him but he did not stop. After informing the police station incharge Chandavak,
he was chased. Police Station Officer Chandvak along with Force laid siege near
Dev International Maintain Public School. Seeing himself surrounded, the
miscreant started firing at the police. Sufiyan (27), son of Mainuddin, was
injured by police bullets in self-defense. Police arrested him on the spot and
sent him to CHC Kerakat for first aid. From here he was referred to the
district hospital.
Further action is being taken by registering case against
him under the Arms Act.
Meanwhile,
in another incident, a vicious animal smuggler was injured by a bullet in an
encounter with the Maharajganj police team on Saturday night and has been
arrested from the spot. Another accused absconded from the spot.
A pistol
cartridge has been recovered from his possession. Area Officer Badlapur said
that a miscreant has been injured in the police encounter. He has been
identified as Shabbir (45), resident of Badlapur. The accused revealed the name
of his absconding companion as Asin. By admitting the injured criminal in CHC
Maharajganj, further legal action is being taken by registering a case under
relevant sections.
