Dhalai (Tripura), 22 December (HS):
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various development projects worth ₹668 crore in the Dhalai district of Tripura. During his visit, he interacted with members of the Bru-Reang community at the Haduklau Para Bru Rehabilitation Colony and visited their homes to understand their lives and challenges.
Amit Shah emphasized that the previous governments, which ruled Tripura for decades, failed to address the hardships faced by the Bru-Reang community. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recognized their suffering and took decisive steps to resolve it.
He highlighted that the Modi government rehabilitated 38,000 Bru-Reang people, who had been living under harsh conditions for 25 years, and provided them with a better life. Furthermore, the government restored peace in the state by signing historic agreements with three insurgent groups and the Bru-Reang community.
Amit Shah stated that governments rooted in democratic values pave the way for development. He noted that ₹900 crore worth of schemes for the welfare of the Bru-Reang community were not only devised but also implemented effectively. By granting them equal rights as other Indian citizens, Prime Minister Modi ensured their dignity and integration into society.
Outlining the pace of development in Tripura, Shah said that while only 2.5% of the population had access to drinking water during previous governments, 85% of households now have tap water connections. Additionally, the school dropout rate has dropped to below 3%, and enrollment has surged from 67% to an impressive 99.5%.
He also mentioned the ongoing construction of a grand temple dedicated to Maa Tripura Sundari, which will make it easier for devotees worldwide to visit and offer their prayers. Shah lauded the efforts of both the Tripura and central governments for their dedication to public welfare and development.
