Bhubaneswar, 21 December (H.S.): The Odisha Vigilance Department has apprehended Sri Bipin Kumar Dehuri, the General Manager (GM) of the District Industries Centre (DIC) in Subarnapur, for accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000. The arrest took place today, December 21, 2024, following a successful operation.

Reports indicate that Sri Dehuri demanded the bribe from a complainant to process and approve a loan application under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). The full bribe amount was recovered from his possession during the operation.

Following the arrest, simultaneous searches are being conducted at three locations associated with Sri Dehuri as part of an investigation into Disproportionate Assets (DA).

A case has been registered at the Sambalpur Vigilance Police Station (Case No. 32, dated 20.12.2024) under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. An investigation into the matter is ongoing.
