Kuwait City/Delhi, 21 December (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kuwait on Saturday afternoon, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in 43 years. He was warmly welcomed by the Amir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and is expected to have a significant impact on the already close ties between India and the Gulf countries. The PM will attend a ceremonial guard of honour at Bayan Palace before holding separate meetings with the Amir and the Crown Prince of Kuwait. Delegation-level talks will also be held to discuss various aspects of bilateral relations including trade, investment, energy, culture, and people-to-people ties. PM Modi will also interact with the Indian diaspora and visit a labor camp. Additionally, he will attend the opening ceremony of the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup as a special guest of the Amir. Before his departure, PM Modi expressed his gratitude for the invitation and highlighted the shared interests in peace, security, and prosperity between India and Kuwait. He also expressed his excitement for meeting the leaders of Kuwait and strengthening the historical connections between the two nations.
