New Delhi, 12 December (H.S.): Ahead of the Assembly election in the country’s capital, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced a new scheme for women that promises a deposit of ₹1,000 in the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries.
The scheme is set to increase to ₹2,100 if the AAP retains power in the state after the Delhi Assembly elections in February.
Kejriwal stated that his party had planned to implement this scheme in March, but he was allegedly sent to jail by the opposing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who had conspired against him in the Delhi liquor policy case.
This announcement comes after the Delhi government cabinet passed a proposal on the subject, making it an official promise from the AAP ahead of the upcoming elections.
