Washington/New Delhi, 6 November (H.S.):

According to the BBC report, voting in Georgia ended at 19:00 EST (7 pm on Tuesday in the US, i.e. 5:30 am on Wednesday in India). Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger estimates that most of the votes will be counted within an hour of the end of voting.

Voting ended 30 minutes after Georgia in North Carolina. The results of North Carolina are expected to be declared by Tuesday night in the US (Wednesday afternoon in India). Voting ended in Pennsylvania at 20:00 EST (6:30 am on Wednesday in India). Experts say that it will take 24 hours to count enough votes to emerge as a winner here.

Voting ended in Michigan at 21:00 EST (7:30 am on Wednesday in India). The result here is expected to come by Wednesday evening. Results for smaller counties in Wisconsin are expected soon after polls close at 21:00 EST, but statewide results won't be available until at least Wednesday.

Initial results in Arizona could come by 22:00 EST (8:30 a.m. Wednesday in India), though the state's largest county has said it could take up to 13 days to count mail-in ballots cast on Election Day. Counting in Nevada could also take several days. This is because the state allows mail-in ballots, provided they are sent on Election Day and arrive before November 9.
