Guwahati, 29 November (HS): In a transformative initiative to bolster healthcare accessibility in the North-Eastern states, Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Fairfax India Charitable Foundation have partnered with the governments of Assam, Mizoram, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, and Nagaland to provide haemodialysis machines under the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Program (PMNDP). This collaboration was formalized through a tripartite agreement signed in Guwahati.
In the North-Eastern states where the healthcare situation is particularly dire, many districts lack adequate haemodialysis facilities and existing centres struggle to meet overwhelming demand. The region’s challenging terrain exacerbates the difficulty of accessing urban medical centers, leaving rural patients and their families grappling with logistical and financial burdens. This initiative aims to address these critical gaps by decentralizing haemodialysis services, reducing patient drop-offs, lowering mortality rates, and creating employment opportunities in the healthcare sector across the North East.
IndianOil has stepped in to bridge this healthcare gap by contributing 110 haemodialysis machines to the Northeastern states under the PMNDP. This initiative will decentralize haemodialysis services, reduce patient drop-offs, lower mortality rates, and create employment opportunities in the healthcare sector.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Udit Jain, Chief General Manager (HRD & ER), IndianOil, highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating, “This partnership exemplifies the power of public-private collaboration in tackling critical healthcare issues. By decentralizing haemodialysis services, we are committed to bringing life-saving care to underserved communities across the North Eastern region.”
Vishal Suri, Trustee of Fairfax India Charitable Foundation, expressed gratitude for the collaboration, adding how this step would help the local communities in these regions that had no viable options for this life-saving service.
Adding to the commitment, Rajesh Nambiar, Executive Director & State Head, of the Indian Oil Assam Oil Division State Office, said, “Our goal is to bridge the healthcare gap in the Northeast. This initiative is a testament to IndianOil’s dedication to delivering equitable healthcare services, even in the remotest areas of the Northeast Region.”
This initiative aligns with IndianOil’s commitment to social responsibility to enhance healthcare infrastructure. By equipping the Northeastern states with haemodialysis machines, this collaboration will provide relief to CKD patients and their families, ensuring affordable and accessible healthcare across the region.
