New Delhi, November 29 (HS). The Supreme Court has deferred the hearing on the bail plea of former Popular Front of India (PFI) chief Abu Bakar. The next hearing on the bail plea will be held in January 2025. The bench headed by Justice MM Sundaresh had asked AIIMS, Delhi to conduct a medical examination of Abu Bakar, but the hearing has been postponed due to the medical report not being received yet.Earlier, the court had directed the AIIMS director to form a team and submit the report of Abu Bakar's health. The Supreme Court, while hearing Abu Bakar's bail plea on September 20, had issued a notice to the NIA.The Delhi High Court had rejected Abu Bakar's regular bail plea on May 28. During the hearing in the High Court, advocate Adit S Pujari on behalf of Abu Bakar had said that the right to life under Article 21 of the Constitution was being violated. The right to live also includes the right to health and the right to live with dignity. Pujari had said that Abu is suffering from cancer and Parkinson's disease and he cannot even clean his body. It is noteworthy that Abu Bakar was arrested in 2022 after a nationwide crackdown on PFI hideouts.-----------------------
