Dispur Sam District's first Co- District Commissioner Manjit Barkakoti has said that with the formation of Co-District, the administration has come closer to the public, due to which any problem gets a spot solution. He said that within the last maiden month of the formation of Co-District, 75% of the land related cases have been settled. He said that when Co-District was formed a month ago, 314 cases related to NOC were pending. Within just 30 days, now only 84 cases are pending. Co-Commissioner Manjit Barkakoti was giving a special interview to Hindusthan Samachar in his office in Basishtha on Thursday.
He said that earlier the papers were sent from the Circle Office to the District Commissioner's Office. The ADC posted for this work in the District Commissioner's Office was responsible for the work of five circle offices of Guwahati. Due to excessive workload, people had to face a lot of trouble. But, today it is not so. Due to the presence of a Sam Zila in every assembly constituency, the work has been divided. Due to the heavy workload of the District Commissioner, it was difficult for people to even meet him. But, today people can easily meet after reaching here and their work gets done quickly.
He told that all the work being done in the district is being done in the Sam Zila office. Under the single window system, all the work is done by coming to this office. Due to division into smaller areas, it is also easy to work.
In response to a question, Co Commissioner Barkakoti said that the formation of Sam Zila has definitely ended the role of middlemen in the office. He has appealed to the people not to go to the middlemen. If anyone has any problem in work, they can come and meet him directly. He said that he monitors every day. At the same time, every week on Monday, he holds a review meeting with the Lot Mandals along with the Circle Officer. He said that the Lot Mandals are given a target to work in the office. This is the reason why only 21 cases are pending with the Lot Mandal as of today. Arrangements are made to settle the cases quickly.
In response to a question, the Co Commissioner said that work is also being done in coordination with the police administration at the Co district level. He said that this is the reason that this time no disturbance of any kind occurred during Durga Puja, Chhath Puja etc. The civil administration and the police administration are working together, so that maximum relief can be provided to the general public. He said that Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has formed Sam districts with the aim of bringing the government and administration closer to the people. He is working with full dedication in this direction so that the Chief Minister does not have to be disappointed. He said that the cooperation of the common people is very important in this. During the interview, Co Commissioner Barkakoti also answered many other questions of Hindusthan Samachar directly.
