Rawalpindi/New Delhi, 21 November (H.S.):
Pakistan's anti-terrorism court on Thursday handed over Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan to the police on a five-day remand in the latest case of New Town Police Station.
Imran Khan has been imprisoned in Rawalpindi Central Jail (Adiala Jail) for about a year. The Islamabad High Court had granted him bail in the Toshakhana II case on Wednesday and ordered his release.
According to the news of ARY News channel, the PTI founder was arrested last night in a new case registered at New Town Police Station. After this, today he was produced before the anti-terrorism court set up in Rawalpindi Central Jail. The prosecution demanded 15 days remand of the former Prime Minister. The court granted only five days remand and ordered the police to continue the investigation inside the jail.
During this, PTI lawyer Salman Safdar filed a petition to cancel the case registered against his client and acquit him. The court rejected the petition of PTI lawyer.
