Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced the launch of a military operation against the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). Shahbaz informed about the government's future steps during a discussion on terrorism in the meeting of the apex committee of the National Action Plan (NAP).
According to the Dawn newspaper, the meeting was chaired by Pak Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. The apex committee on Wednesday approved a full military operation in Balochistan against terrorism and separatist activities. It also vowed to revive the National Anti-Terrorism Authority. Shahbaz Sharif expressed firm commitment to crush the banned BLA.
The meeting was attended by Army Chief General Asim Munir, all Chief Ministers, federal cabinet members and senior officials. All of them said unanimously that the terrorist organizations active in Balochistan including Majeed Brigade, BLA, BLF (Balochistan Liberation Front) and BRAS (Baloch Raji Ajoi Sangar) are targeting innocent civilians and foreign nationals to worsen the economic condition of the country.
Therefore, a comprehensive military operation is necessary against them. Army Chief General Munir supported the government's initiative to ensure peace and stability.
