Mumbai/ New Delhi, 18 November (H.S.):

The first trading day of the week also proved to be bad one for the share market. The 30-share Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange closed with a decline of 241 points, while the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also closed in the red after working with a decline throughout the day. Meanwhile, the shares of gas distribution companies from IGL to MGL not only fell, but shares like TATA and Mahindra also crashed.

When the market closed, the Sensex-Nifty closed in the red with a decline. The BSE Sensex opened at 77,863 with a decline of 283 points compared to its previous close of 77,580, but in just 10 minutes it slipped by more than 540 points and this decline continued till the end. At the close of the market, this index closed at a level of 77,339 with a fall of 241 points.

This index of the National Stock Exchange also opened at a level of 23,605 with a jump compared to its close of 23,532 on Thursday, the last trading day of last week. Like the Sensex, the sudden decline in this also continued till the end of the trading. At one time, this index had plunged by 170 points, but in the end the decline was reduced somewhat. Still Nifty closed at a level of 23,453 down by 78 points.
