Farmers' records and crop loss survey will not be manipulated now: Shivraj

Bhopal, 04 October (HS): Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that now the staff of the Revenue Department will not be able to manipulate the records of farmers and the survey of crop loss. For this, the central government is going to form a digital agriculture mission. This will help in preventing manipulation by farmers.

Union Agriculture Minister Chauhan was addressing a press conference at his residence on Link Road in Bhopal on Friday. He said that at present the revenue staff keeps a record of every information of the farmer. After digitization, it will be known how much loss has actually occurred. As soon as the crop arrives at the time of sowing, the photos will be uploaded. Due to this, the revenue staff will not be able to manipulate. The farmer will get the right compensation for his loss. Drones are also being given for this. Five batteries will be given separately in view of the condition of the drone's battery getting discharged.

He said that the Modi government of the Center, dedicated to the welfare of farmers, has taken many farmer-friendly decisions in the last 120 days. He told that the Central Government has approved two new schemes on Thursday itself. Under this, the work of Digital Agriculture Mission will also be done. These two schemes are Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana and Krishi Unnati Yojana. A total of one lakh 1321 crore 61 lakh rupees will be spent in both the schemes.

The Union Agriculture Minister said that in the year 2022-23, the total requirement of edible oil in the country was 29.2 million tonnes, but we produce 12.7 billion from oil seeds. To meet the rest of the demand, we have to depend on foreign countries or imports. For this, National Edible Oil Mission Oilseeds has been created. At present, the production of oil seeds plants running in the country is very low. Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) will make seeds to give to the farmers. These seeds will be made available to the farmers for free. For this, 600 clusters will be created across the country.

He said that wherever oil seeds are produced in 347 districts of 21 states across the country, those states have been specially taken. Farmers will be given free seeds, training, information about how to farm with new technology in these clusters. Such facilities will be provided under this mission.

Union Minister Chauhan said that farming will be done in 10 lakh hectare area every year across the country. 65 new seed centers will be built to meet the shortage of advanced seeds. 50 seed storage units will also be built to keep the seeds safe. He said that more attention is being given to those states where only one crop of Kharif is taken. Intercropping will also be used. These seeds, crops can be planted between different crops. The entire purchase will be done from the farmers.

During this, he also targeted the Congress. In response to a question, he said that the priority of the Congress has never been farming or farmers. There was no purchase in their government. If their job is to oppose, then they will keep opposing for politics. Regarding employment for the youth, he said that unemployment allowance is not the solution to the problem. Give money to the youth, but teach them work. He has been working with focus on this.

He also informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deposit the 18th installment of 'PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana' in the accounts of farmers from Washim in Maharashtra tomorrow. An amount of more than Rs 20 thousand crore will be transferred to about 9.4 crore beneficiary farmers across the country.
