Oct 25 (HS): A major railway accident was averted at Saharanpur railway station
when two coaches of a goods train loaded with grains derailed at a short
distance from the station. According to the information, the goods train was
going from Guruharsahay in Punjab towards Bamanheri in Meerut. Meanwhile, when
the goods train reached near Saharanpur railway station, two coaches derailed.
The incident is said to have taken place at 6 am. On information, railway
officials including senior RPF officers present at the railway station reached
the spot. A separate track has been made near the platform of the railway
station for the movement of goods trains. Late in the night, a goods train had
left Guruharsahay of Firozpur in Punjab district carrying grains. When it
reached near Saharanpur railway station in the morning, two coaches of the
goods train derailed. The railway tracks ahead have been cut and cleared by the
railway officials. The reasons behind the derailment of two coaches of the
goods train are being investigated. Railway officials said that a team will be
formed to find out the cause of the accident. It is worth mentioning that
recently train coaches had derailed at different places. On October 13, two
coaches of an empty local train (EMU) derailed at Mumbai Central station. On
October 12, the 'Bagmati Superfast Express' train coming from Mysore to
Darbhanga met with an accident near Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu.
