Oct 22 (HS): The three-day Inter-Institutional Cultural and Games Extravaganza

“Alfresco 2024”, organized by Boys’ High School and College, commenced on a

happy note at the St. Patrick’s auditorium on Tuesday. Member of Parliament, Praveen

Patel was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Prof. Yogeshwar Tiwari, University

of Allahabad and Prof (Dr.) Arif A. Broadway, Sam Higginbottom University of

Agriculture, Technology and Sciences were the Guests of Honour.

On

the arrival, the Chief Guest was warmly received by the Principal, D. A. Luke.

The inaugural function began with an impressive March Past by the participating

schools followed by singing of the School Song and oath by School Captain,

Samarth Khare.

In

his inaugural address Praveen Kumar Patel emphasized the significance of good

educational institutions for framing a holistic personality. He further added

that getting admission in such a prestigious school still is one of the

greatest challenges for students coming from rural areas. He also stressed on

the need to move away the new generation from the scourge of social media

addiction and bring them to stage like alfresco to learn leadership and

sportsmanship.

Lastly,

he said that as a public servant of this constituency, it was a matter of great

pride for him to have institution like BHS and its alumni represent us on

national stage in most coveted position.

The

participating educational institutions were The Bishop’s Co-Ed School

(Bishop’s), Pune, St. John’s Co-Ed School, D. P. Public School (DPPS), Khelgaon

Public School (KPS), Tagore Public School (TPS), Srinivasa Ramanujan Public

School, Bal Bharti School, Erny Memorial Senior Secondary School, Bishop

Johnson School and College and the host, Boys’ High School (BHS) and College. In

all, more than 500 enthusiastic boys and girls from the educational

institutions participated in the mega fest.

The

first event was debate, moderated by Rowan Luke. The teams argued for and

against the motion ‘The big fat Indian wedding is a vulgar display of wealth.’ Next

was scintillating round of quizzing with Boys’ High school and college bagging

the first position.

The

audience was mesmerized by the wit, humour and spontaneity of HAM. The last on

stage event was Rock On and the rendition was immaculate leaving the judges in

a quandary.

The

motto of Alfresco 2024, `Educate, Enthral, Excel and Evolve’ is aimed to

facilitate personality development, confidence building and inter personal

relationships among the students fraternity. The Principal, D. A. Luke extended

a warm welcome to the Principals and students of participating schools.

The

Bishop’s; Quiz: 1st – BHS, 2nd– KPS; HAM: 1st – BHS, 2nd– Bishop’s; Rock On:

1st – BHS, 2nd– Bishop’s; OFF-STAGE Events: Charcoal on Canvas: 1st– DPPS

&KPS (joint), 2nd– Bishop’s;Shutter Bug: 1st – Bishop’s, 2nd– BHS; BGMI:

1st – BHS, 2nd– DPPS.
