New Delhi, October 18 (HS): The level of pollution in Delhi is constantly increasing. On Friday morning, the people of the capital had to face the fog of pollution. On Friday, the average Air Quality Index (AQI) in the capital was recorded at 293 with poor category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), there is no possibility of improvement in the air quality in Delhi for the next two days. On Friday, the AQI at more than eight places in the capital crossed the very poor category i.e. 300.
According to CPCB, AQI was recorded at 334 in Dwarka Sector 8, 262 around Airport T3 Terminal, 375 in Mundka, 242 in Pusa, 314 in Ayanagar, 315 in Shadipur, 284 in Mandir Marg, 381 in Wazirpur, 362 in Rohini.
Due to increasing pollution in Delhi and NCR, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has implemented the first phase of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). If the situation remains the same, then soon the second phase of GRAP will also be implemented. GRAP-1 is implemented when the AQI of the city crosses 200. After the implementation of GRAP-1, there is a complete ban on the use of coal and wood in hotels and restaurants. Apart from this, strict monitoring will be done on the operation of old petrol and diesel vehicles (BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel). Also, proper implementation of instructions on dust suppression measures and solid environmental management of C&D waste will be ensured in construction and demolition (C&D) activities. In this, C&D activities will not be allowed in respect of such projects with plot size equal to or more than 500 square meters, which are not registered on the web portal of the concerned.
