New Delhi, 14 October (H.S.):

There was an atmosphere of enthusiasm in the domestic stock market

throughout Monday. Shortly after the market opened, buyers started

buying, due to which the stock market movement gained momentum. After the whole

day's trading, the Sensex closed with a gain of 0.73 percent and Nifty with a

gain of 0.66 percent.

The BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 195 points at 81,576 points. After the

day's buying and selling, the Sensex closed at 81,973 points with a gain of 591

points. Like the Sensex, NSE's Nifty also started trading at 25,023 points,

jumping 59 points, but due to intra-day settlement at the last moment, the

index fell by about 30 points from the upper level and closed at 25,127 points

with a gain of 163 points.

There was continuous buying in the broader market today, due to which the

BSE midcap index closed with a gain of 0.28 percent. Similarly, the smallcap

index ended today's trading with a gain of 0.06 percent. During the day's

trading, the most buying was done in the stocks of realty, IT and banking

sector. Along with this, pharmaceutical, FMCG, automobile, capital goods,

consumer durables, PSE and tech index also managed to close with gains. On the

other hand, there was selling pressure in the stocks of metal, media and oil

and gas sector.
