Nagpur, 01 Oct
(HS): The tenure of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor is coterminous with that of the Vice
Chancellor under the Maharashtra Public Universities Act 2016. With the untimely
death of suspended Vice-Chancellor Dr Subhash Chaudhary, the office of the VC
has automatically vacated. The term of the Pro-VC also ended with the death of Dr
Chaudhari.
A senior senate
member Adv Manmohan Bajpai has written a letter to the Chancellor informing him
that the term of Pro-VC is coterminous with that of the VC. RTMNU Pro-VC Dr
Sanjay Dudheis still clearing the files
in his office against the rules.
Section 13 (7) of
the Act clearly mentions that the term of the Pro-VC is coterminous with that
of the VC. The section says that the term of a VC ends with the completion of
the tenure or his death. The term of the Pro-VC also ends with the term of the
VC.
Dr Chaudhari was a regular VC and was under suspension. Dr Bokare of Gondwana University was
holding an additional charge as VC of RTMNU. The term of Pro-VC Dr Dudhe ended
with the death of Dr Chaudhari.
The sources at
the University told The Live Nagpur that Dr Dudhe is still working and clearing
files.
Adv Bajpai, in
his letter to the Chancellor, has also demanded that the decisions taken by Dr
Dudhe will be against the rules and should be termed null and void.
Surprisingly, Dr
Dudhe is still continuing with the office, with the expectation that he should
have complete knowledge of the University rules.
Dr Dudhe’s
continuing with the office has not been taken cognizance even by the
Officiating Vice-Chancellor Dr P Bokare. The University, which earned dubious distinction
due to its administration against the law and violation of rules for favouring a
group of people, is continuing functioning in the same fashion. The media which
criticizes the function of the university is sidelined by the University
authorities.
