PM to inaugurate six projects in Varanasi on Friday


New Delhi, 23 March (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to visit his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi on Friday. The Prime Minister will address the 'One World TB Summit' there and will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various projects worth more than ₹1,780 crore.

According to the Prime Minister's Office, on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, Modi will address the 'One World TB Summit' at Rudraksh Convention Center at around 10.30 am on Friday. In the programme, the Prime Minister will also award selected states, union Territories and districts for significant progress towards eradication of TB.

At around 12 noon, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various projects worth more than ₹1,780 crore at the Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya ground. The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of the Passenger Ropeway from Varanasi Cantt Station to Godaulia. The cost of this project is estimated to be around ₹645 crore. This ropeway system with five stations will be 3.75 km long. This will facilitate the movement of tourists, pilgrims and residents of Varanasi.

Modi will also lay the foundation stone of a 55 MLD capacity sewage treatment plant at Bhagwanpur under the Namami Gange scheme. The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of the second and third phases of the redevelopment work of Sigra Stadium under the Khelo India scheme.

In addition, the PM will also lay the foundation stone of the LPG bottling plant to be constructed by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited in this Raver village of Sewapuri. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone of various other projects including a primary health centre, a floating jetty equipped with changing rooms at Bharthara village.
