New Delhi, 23 March (HS): Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will meet heads of public sector banks on Saturday in the wake of the failure of some banks in the US and the Credit Suisse crisis. The Finance Minister will also review the performance of banks during this meeting.

Sources said on Thursday that the Finance Minister will hold a meeting with the heads of banks on March 25. The meeting will take stock of the progress made by banks in achieving the targets set for various government schemes like Kisan Credit Card, Stand-up India, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana and Aataat Credit Suvidha Guarantee Yojana. In the meeting, the Finance Minister will also review the plans of banks for loan growth, asset quality, capital raising and business growth in the next financial year.

Significantly, this is the first full review meeting of Finance Minister Sitharaman after the budget for the financial year 2023-24.
