Kathmandu, 06 Dec (HS):- A scandal of sending Nepali youths illegally for entry into the Russian military was exposed, Police arrested 12 people and seized more than 50 passports from their possession.

The Crime Branch of Nepal Police in Kathmandu raided different sites and arrested 12 people. Police said that all the passports had Russian Visa attacked. Police also recovered Rs 27 lakh cash from them. Those arrested include Dron Dangi, Deepak Periar, Kshitij Giri, Subhash Lama, Manish Nyopane, Rosal Maharjan, Hari Bahadur Vishvakarma, Ishwar Adhikari, Gokarna Aryal, Sujata Dahal, Santosh Rokka and Santosh Nepal.

Kathmandu Police Superintendent Kumod Dhungel said that all the accused were produced in the District Court and police remand was obtained. The investigation started after reports of the deaths of six soldiers in the Russian army, who were Nepali nationals were received. Similar reports of some soldiers arrested by Ukraine who are Nepali nationals were an eye-opener for Nepal police.
