Javier Milei elected new president of Argentina


Buenos Aires, 20 Nov (HS): Argentina elected Javier Milei as its new President. The right-wing libertarian Milei was declared elected on Sunday. Milei received 55.8 per cent votes against 44.2 per cent by his rival Sergio Massa.

Javier Milei is compared with US ex-president Donald Trump. The 53-year-old Milei is an economist and talked about economic reforms in Argentina. Reducing expenses, closing the Central Bank, and currency exchange with Us dollars are some of the proposals made by Milei. Ban on abortions, reviewing law relation to possession of arms etc are other issues on the agenda.
