
Prayagraj, 05 January (HS): The first bath festival of Magh Mela which will be held tomorrow here, is likely to witness a sea of devotees as the process of arrival of devotees started from Thursday.
The ghats of Ganga in Prayagraj are also ready to cope with the crowd of devotees. The world's biggest fair is starting from January 6 with the bath of Paush Purnima. Spread over 700 hectares and 6 sectors, this fair will end on February 18 with the Maha Shivratri bath. Lakhs of devotees from the country and the world spend their 40 days stay in in chanting and religious activities here.
There is great significane of Magh Mela and Snan that are organized every year on the banks of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati in Prayagraj. Lakhs of devotees from all over the world come here to do Kalpavas. Yogi Adityanath's government is seeing it as a rehearsal for the Mahakumbh to be held in 2025.
Magh Mela officer Arvind Singh Chauhan said that for the first time in Magh Mela at the initiative of the government, a 500-bed dormitory has been prepared for the devotees. Normally the dormitory is prepared in Mahakumbh or Kumbh Mela. Any common devotee can stay in it free of cost.
On Friday, 14 pucca ghats have been prepared for the first festival of Paush Purnima. Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant told that preparations have been completed. 14 permanent ghats are ready for the first bathing festival. Changing rooms have been also made for the women at these bathing ghats.
