Court finds Sub Inspector of food guilty in a bribe case

Chandigarh, September 14 ( H S ) : A sub-inspector of Food, Civil and Consumer Affairs Department, Haryana had been found guilty of accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 in lieu of issuance of license to a depot holder, for which the court has sentenced and imposed a fine on him.

A spokesperson of the Haryana State Vigilance Bureau said that Sonu Singh, son of Bajrang Singh, a resident of Helimandi village in Gurugram district, had given a complaint that Nitesh Rohilla, Sub-Inspector of Food, Civil and Consumer Affairs Department, had taken a bribe of Rs. 10,000 in lieu of issuing depot holder's license.

After receiving the complaint, State Vigilance Bureau had arrested Nitesh Rohilla red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000. The Lower Division Court of Ashwani Kumar, Additional Session Judge, Gurugram has convicted the accused under section 7 of PC Act and sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 years and to pay a fine of Rs. 25,000, in default of payment of fine, he shall undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months.

Accused has also been sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 6 years and to pay a fine of Rs. 25,000 for having committed an offence punishable under Section 13 (l)(d) of PC Act and in default of payment of fine to further undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months.
