
Morigaon (Assam), 09 September (HS): At least 12 shops were completely gutted in a fire that broke out at Budhwaria Bazaar under Mayong Police Station in Assam’s Morigaon district, police informed on Wednesday.
According to police, a fire broke out at the market late early hours on Wednesday, following which fire and emergency services personnel rushed to the spot. After considerable efforts, the firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control. However, by then, 12 shops had been completely destroyed.
The fire is estimated to have caused property damage worth around ₹1 crore. The exact cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained, although police suspect that a short circuit may have triggered the blaze.
A case has been registered, and police have launched an investigation into the incident.------------
