Bhubaneswar, 08 September (H.S.): Odisha Vigilance has arrested Mir Imtiyaz Ali, a Junior Assistant at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Fasimal, and in-charge Junior Assistant at CHC Govindpur in Sambalpur district, for allegedly misappropriating government funds amounting to ₹1.15 crore by generating fraudulent bills in the names of retired employees.

According to the Vigilance investigation, Ali allegedly committed the financial irregularities during the financial years 2021-22 to 2026-27 while serving at the two health centres. He allegedly generated fake online and offline bills under various financial heads, including arrear salaries, unutilised leave encashment and provisional pensions of retired employees.

The investigation found that Ali allegedly diverted ₹70.57 lakh meant for retired employees of CHC Fasimal directly into his bank accounts instead of disbursing the legitimate dues or depositing the funds with the government.

Similarly, while serving as Junior Assistant at CHC Govindpur under Bamra Block, he allegedly misappropriated another ₹44.57 lakh using the same modus operandi. The total amount allegedly misappropriated from the two health centres stands at ₹1,15,14,539.

Odisha Vigilance has registered two cases at Sambalpur Vigilance Police Station, Case Nos. 14 and 15, dated September 8, 2026, under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018, and Section 316(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
