Chandigarh, 08 September (H.S.): The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the 2015 Behbal Kalan firing case has once again summoned Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal for questioning. He has been directed to appear before the investigation team in Chandigarh on September 11.
Badal has previously appeared before the SIT in connection with the case. He has also stated earlier that he would cooperate with the investigation and appear whenever summoned by the team.
Shiromani Akali Dal spokesperson Arshdeep Singh Kaler criticised the Punjab Aam Aadmi Party government over the latest summons. He alleged that the government was currently facing criticism on several issues and was using such actions to divert public attention from pressing concerns.
Kaler said that the government could not distract people from the real issues through these measures. He further claimed that the government had faced adverse observations from the court during two hearings in the case, following which Badal was summoned again.
The allegations made by the SAD spokesperson are the party’s political position. The SIT’s investigation into the Behbal Kalan firing case remains ongoing, and Badal is scheduled to appear before the team on September 11.
