Bhubaneswar, 08 September (H.S.): The Odisha Government on Tuesday launched the state-level special handicrafts exhibition ‘Utkalaa: Shri Ganesh’ for the first time at Ekamra Haat in Bhubaneswar, showcasing the artistic traditions and craftsmanship of the state ahead of Ganesh Puja.

Organised by the Department of Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts, the exhibition features 34 artisans from 16 districts across 33 stalls. It will remain open from 11 am to 9 pm till September 13.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Cooperation, Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta in the presence of Commissioner-cum-Secretary Guha Poonam Tapas Kumar and senior departmental officials.

Under the ‘Utkalaa’ brand, the exhibition showcases Ganesha idols, Pattachitra and other artworks crafted from clay, wood, stone, terracotta, paddy, coconut coir, brass, bell metal and palm leaves.

The initiative aims to provide artisans with direct access to consumers, expand markets for their products and enhance their income while promoting Odisha’s rich handicraft heritage. The exhibition also reinforces the spirit of ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’.
