Seethakka Slams BRS Over Remarks Against Assembly Speaker

Hyderabad, 08 September (H.S.) — Telangana Women and Child Welfare Minister Dasari Anasuya, popularly known as Seethakka, on Tuesday criticised BRS leaders over alleged inappropriate remarks against Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar and their subsequent denial of making such comments in the House.

Speaking on the second day of the Legislative Assembly’s Monsoon Session, Seethakka questioned the BRS leadership over the alleged manhandling of former minister Sabitha Indra Reddy during Monday’s developments. Referring to BRS leader T Harish Rao, she also questioned his conduct during the incident and asked why women members had been pushed to the front.

She said the women MLAs should first have been moved to a safe place before other leaders came forward. Seethakka also alleged that BRS leaders had manhandled a woman police officer and abused her, claiming that visual evidence of the incidents was available.

Demanding action against MLAs who allegedly assaulted police personnel on duty, she said the Legislative Assembly should be treated like a temple and urged BRS women leaders to introspect over the conduct of their party members.

Seethakka also questioned the BRS's contrasting positions over remarks involving women leaders, referring to the party’s earlier action against Kavitha over remarks concerning Harish Rao.

The Assembly proceedings were adjourned within an hour of commencement on Tuesday after BRS members led by Harish Rao created a ruckus over police action against them outside the Assembly on the first day of the session.
