Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a Subhashitam shared on X on Tuesday that a wise and discerning person should extract the essence from all branches of knowledge. He emphasised the importance of seeking valuable knowledge from every source and assimilating it.

The Prime Minister shared the Subhashitam: “‘Anubhyashcha Mahadabhyashcha Shastrebhyah Kushalo Narah. Sarvatah Saramadyat Pushpebhya Iva Shatpadah॥’ Its essence is that a wise and discerning person should extract the essence from every branch of knowledge, whether great or small, just as a bee gathers nectar from every flower. Similarly, one should seek the most valuable knowledge from every source and assimilate it.”

This celebrated verse is taken from the Shrimad Bhagavata Mahapurana. The well-known Subhashitam advises a learner to emulate the bee. A wise person should gather essential knowledge from all sources without prejudice and synthesise it into a broader understanding, just as a bee collects nectar from numerous flowers and transforms it into honey.
